Aircrew disability insurance

Professional protection for cockpit and cabin crew

Insuring the risk of aircrew disability is one of the key insurance covers for cockpit and cabin crew members. Changes in recreational behaviour and engaging in more extreme sports (paragliding, mountainbiking, parachuting) are the main reasons why the risk of accidents and therefore a permanent or temporary disability to fly has increased.

Working in an aircraft cockpit or cabin is itself a job posing special challenges, resulting in a higher risk of loss of income than in other professions. This is why many insurers make a distinction between a disability insurance for aircrew or for other occupations. There are only a few specialised insurance companies who will protect against loss of income in a way that meets the special demands of aircrew members.

Group policies
In close collaboration with HR divisions of a wide range of airlines, our subsidiary, Albatros Versicherungsdienste GmbH, has developed corporate insurance plans to exactly fit your needs.

You would like to offer your pilots and cabin crew members a corporate insurance against loss of income or want to review whether your existing plan is up to date? Then do not hesitate to get in touch with us—we'll be happy to help so you and your staff will benefit from our extensive expertise and connections in the market.

For individuals
Our subsidiary, Albatros Versicherungsdienste GmbH, offers a number of products to protect your income as a professional pilot and/or flight attendant, whether you are an employee or a freelancer. In case you have no other insurance cover against aircrew disability (such as a corporate plan), we would recommend an individual policy to cover your risk.

For private persons
Our subsidiary, Albatros Versicherungsdienste GmbH, offers a number of products to protect cabin and cockpit crew—but most importantly, trainee pilots—extensively against the financial consequences of a disability to fly. A wide range of coverage is available at preferential rates.

The choice is yours:

Lump sum payment

Disability income without pension plan

Disability income with pension plan

You are training as a pilot?
Then we recommend getting this insurance while you are still training, but you will start with a lower premium. Should you become unable to fly, your insurer will pay out the agreed monthly disability income so you can use it to pay for your training expenses.

See here for more detailed information on pilot training funding and disability insurance.
