Insured like a world champion
In 2018 shortly before the 21st FIFA World Cup in Russia, the trophy was transported from Frankfurt to Berlin and back again to be polished up in the capital for its grand appearance at the upcoming World Cup.
The approximately 36.8 cm tall statue shows two triumphant footballers carrying a globe between their outstretched arms. Two wreaths of malachite semi-precious stones are inlaid on the round base. The trophy weighs 6.175 grams and is made of approximately 4.631 grams of 18-carat gold. A long-standing customer of Delvag commissioned us to arrange transportation insurance for this special cargo before the trophy set off on its journey to Russia.
By the way:
During transportation, the trophy was always handled with gloves, as only heads of state, current and former world champions and selected FIFA employees are allowed to touch the World Cup trophy with their bare hands.
